Endowments for Advancing the Humanities   Apply
  1. Project overview:
    Lead unit, project director, requested federal amount, and total endowment target.
  2. Humanities significance:
    Your unit's track record and impact in the humanities (programs, courses, enrollments, collections, audiences). Note alignment with NEH's recent emphasis on Western civilization, American history and government, and civics.
  3. Use of endowment income:
    What the annual income would support over 20 years, and how impact will be measured.
  4. Fundraising plan:
    Identified prospects and estimated gift levels, any committed or in-hand funds, and a year-by-year timeline over a period of up to 3 years. Please confirm you have consulted your WVU Foundation development officer.
  5. Leadership and personnel:
    Who will lead fundraising and the humanities work, and confirmation of your dean's or director's support.

NEH Restrictions

  1. Unallowable uses include general operating costs, real estate acquisition or improvement, and fundraising not specific to the project. 
  2. Restricted activities include DEI/DEIA initiatives, environmental justice activities, and advocacy for specific policies or legislation. 
  3. Programmatic exclusions include creating or performing art, creative writing, policy studies, and social science that doesn't use humanistic methods
