Community Engagement Grants Program

Proposals are due May 1, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. and can be submitted through the internal grants module in WVU+kc.

Funded proposals will have an active performance period of July 1, 2026 through April 30, 2027.

Overview

The Community Engagement Grants Program provides funding to support faculty-led projects that foster collaboration between WVU and external communities, enhance public service and outreach, and contribute to community-engaged scholarship. Application for funding will be reviewed and awarded by the faculty senate service committee.

Total Funding Available: $60,000
Maximum Award: Up to $10,000 per project
Funding Source: WVU Provost’s Office
Application System: WVU+kc internal grants module

Purpose and Priorities

Proposals should align with WVU’s public service mission and demonstrate:

  • Meaningful community engagement and partnerships
  • Clear benefits to West Virginia communities and/or broader public audiences
  • Integration of community-engaged service, teaching, and/or scholarship
  • Potential for sustainable impact or future external funding

Eligibility

  • Open to WVU faculty (all campuses)
  • Collaborative proposals across disciplines and/or units are encouraged
  • Partnerships with community organizations are strongly recommended

Allowable Expenses

  • Project materials and supplies
  • Travel directly related to project implementation
  • Limited personnel support
  • Salary support not available for 12-month faculty
  • Personnel support may include student time (undergraduate or graduate)
